Catrice Nail Lacquer in Purplelized

Yes, it's another Catrice nail polish, can't help it! Purplelized is this gorgeous sparkly silvery purple colour with mainly blue and gold micro-glitter. A colour which requires so many words to be described is bound to be stunning.

The sparkles are of course even more visible in sunny weather (haven't had any of that lately) and when photographed with flash:

These photos were actually taken 4 days after application so there was some tip wear but luckily no chipping (I have used the Zoya colour lock products, I doubt the polish would have lasted as long just by itself). The application was easy, the first coat is very sheer but the second coat makes the colour completely opaque. For me, it's another winner from Catrice!

Tom Ford Eye Color Quad Burnished Amber (06) FOTD

As promised in my last post on the Tom Ford Eye Quad in Burnished Amber, here are the photos showing what the colours in Burnished Amber quad look like when applied to my eyelids.

I have used all four shades from the Burnished Amber quad (golden brown all over the mobile lid and on the lower lashline, pink in the crease, deep plum in the outer v and on the lower lashline and just a little bit of the light gold in the inner corners). I've also used the matte brown longlasting eyeliner in the colour Hot Chocolate by Essence on the waterline and coated my lashes with the Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill mascara (which evidently smudged a little bit on my upper lid, oh well). These eyeshadows also look beautiful with some black or brown eyeliner smudged on top and bottom lashline but most of the time I just wear them by themselves and I really like how soft they look and how they just blend so effortlessly into each other.

On my cheeks I used the Le Metier de Beaute Blonzer in Maldives Magic (I really love wearing this blush/bronzer thing, the colour just goes with everything) and on my lips I used the Shiseido Automatic Lip Crayon in the colour LC7 which is a lovely medium rose colour that looks quite matte on the lips.

The colours are actually more intense in real life than in this last photo. For swatches, more info and my first impressions on the beautiful Burnished Amber quad you can check out this post.

Postcards from Prague

Last week me and my boyfriend went to Prague for just a few days and had a wonderful time. It was also my birthday on the day we arrived to the Czech capital so it was all even more special.

Prague Astronomical Clock

I had only two full days in Prague so I wanted to make the most of it. Luckily, the weather was wonderful - sunny most of the time and no rain (but it was quite cold and windy, so I was wearing the beret and this heavy and amazingly warm pashmina that my sister got me from Turkey almost all the time).

Me at the Charles Bridge

The buildings everywhere are just spectacular and I really liked the gothic style of many of them.

St Vitus Cathedral

Clock Tower

The main streets and attractions from the Wenceslas Square, through the Old Town Square and down the Charles Bridge are filled with tourists but then you see these small streets that are completely empty. I've also noticed that almost all streets have cobblestones (and my aching feet noticed it too).

Prague Old Town Square

A small little snack before bedtime. Ahem. (By the way, Staropramen was so hard to find in any of the restaurants, it seems like Pilsner Urquel is the beer of the town).

This last photo was taken near the Kafka museum in Mala Strana.

Prague by night
This was my first trip to Prague and I was really amazed at how beautiful it is and would love to go back someday.

Tom Ford Eye Color Quad: Burnished Amber (06)

As soon as I saw the photos of the new Tom Ford beauty range on British Beauty Blogger and London MakeUp Girl my eye went directly to Burnished Amber, a stunning eyeshadow quad of shimmery colours that just look so pretty for fall. As the complete Tom Ford beauty line is currently available only in the UK  if I'm not mistaken (Harrods and Selfridges), I got my hands on the Burnished Amber with lots of help from the lovely Jennifer - Lipstick Luvvies. Thank you again Jennifer!

The colours are (from top left, clockwise):
- a shimmery golden beige
- a deep pink with warm shimmer
- a medium golden brown with golden shimmer (this one is the sparkliest out of all four)
- a dark shimmery warm plum

The texture of all four shadows is just beautiful - they are all very  pigmented (the golden beige is the least pigmented but still not sheer), have a lovely smooth texture and are not chalky at all. They are not as creamy as for example the Le Metier de Beaute shadows, I'd say they are somewhat close to the Rouge Bunny Rouge shadows, perhaps a bit more compact, if that makes any sense. I have been using the Burnished Amber quad for a few days now and there was absolutely no fallout  at all and what I like the most about these colours is that they just blend so perfectly and still keep their colour so it never looks like just another dark indistinguishable, greyish/brownish look. I loved using a combination of the pink and brown on the lid and then smoked it out with the deep plum shade - a perfect smoky eye for Fall.

The packaging is of course beautiful: sleek shiny dark brown case with gold detailing, magnetic closure, a large and very useful mirror and a set of 2 double-ended applicators which I have not tried using yet although the white brush on one side feels surprisingly soft.

I'm sure most people who'll get any of the Tom Ford quads will be doing the "makeup math"  (thank you Mr. Ford for keeping our brains occupied) - in each quad you get 10 grams of product which means 2,5 grams per each colour in a quad. And that means that you actually get much more product than with the main measuring unit in makeup, that is a MAC shadow (1,5 grams). I decided to go for Burnished Amber even though I haven't seen it in person but I've read some other positive reviews on this particular colourway so decided to take the plunge. You can read about Burnished Amber on these two blogs: The Gloss Goss and Makeup for Professional Asian Women. If you plan on getting any of the quads it might be better if you get a chance to check out the colours in person (I know Get Lippie was not completely in love with her Silvered Topaz quad). I have to say that I'm very pleased with my choice and I now have the Cognac Sable and one of the purpley quads on my wishlist. Although I really shouldn't.

Lastly, I just wanted to add the ingredients list for this eyeshadow quad - I think it's really interesting that shea butter is so high on the list (and there's vitamin C as well):

I'll make sure to post some photos of how these colours look applied as soon as possible (which will probably not be as soon because I'm just in a middle of packing for my short trip to Prague).

Zoya Professional Lacquer in Pandora

See that beautiful shimmery purple nail polish on the left? Well, now look to the right. That unassuming light pink colour is Pandora. Although to be fair, it's not really just a pink - it's more of a mauvey beige colour with some very slight shimmer (or dare I say it, the finest silvery frost). Still, when I asked my boyfriend whether he likes this polish on my nails his response was: "Wait, you actually painted your nails?"

The colour is actually more accurate in this photo (btw, I bought that scarf from Accessorize and have been wearing it a lot lately. But I've just added it to this photo to add some colour).

Now, I can't really decide on this polish - I like the colour, it's very elegant and at the same time it's not your typical sheer pink. It's actually very opaque for such a light colour (I only had to use 2 coats) and here's the problem - it's very streaky and brush strokes are definitely visible from up close. However, I think maybe next time I need to apply thicker coats, it might help.

Also, I've been using the Zoya Colour Lock System ("Anchor" base coat and "Armor" top coat) and I really like them - the above photo was actually shot on the fifth day of my manicure and I'm very impressed, no chipping and barely any tip wear. And that Remove + is the best nail polish remover I've ever tried.

Do you have any favourite nude nail polishes? I'm very much interested in OPI's Tickle my France-y but on the more colourful spectrum I've been eyeing the deep reds such as Essie's Limited Addiction and Chanel's Rouge Fatal.

I'm a Klutz - Chapter III

Hello, dirty old rubbery NARS packaging! How you doin'?

Oh, dear, I guess not too well! I really liked using NARS' Laguna bronzer and as I made quite a dent in it and was carrying it around me in my not-so-little makeup bag, well, the thing broke into tiny pieces.

Have you tried the popular Laguna bronzer? Is it still in one piece? I haven't been using it as much lately because I haven't been much in the sun this year (good girl!) and haven't tanned at all so Laguna started looking a bit scary but I have tried it again today with a very light hand and it still works really well for me.
