You've got Mail: Paula's Choice

I've always been interested in the Paula's Choice skin care range created by Paula Begoun who is probably most famous for hundreds of her skincare and makeup reviews. While I often don't agree with her when it comes to makeup (I completely understand that she favours neutral colours but a purple on the eye does not a clownish makeup make) I think she makes some good points when it comes to skincare and she also transfers her ideas to her skincare line. There's no perfume, essential oils or alcohol in her products. The "problem" I've had with her EU website before was that the shipping to Slovenia was extortionate - I think it was around 20€ which is ridiculous especially taking into account the fact that all of her products are below the 30€ mark. However, recently the shipping costs to Slovenia decreased to 8,50€ which is still a lot but with the launch of her new website in the Slovenian language they have also introduced a code SVN01ORD for 50% off shipping to Slovenia with your first order. Now, 4,25€ sounds better, doesn't it?

So, what did I get? I have recently been trying some of the samples of Paula's Choice and have decided to order the products I liked the most:
RESIST Daily Smoothing Treatment with 5% AHA: this is a wonderful glycolic acid based exfoliant that I don't use every day but about twice a week and it makes my skin very soft but doesn't irritate it at all;
- RESIST Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum: this light serum is packed with antioxidants, unfortunately, it's also quite silicone-y but I can live with that;
- 1% Beta Hydroxy Acid Gel: this was the product I was most excited to try - I've read some very positive reviews of Paula's Choice BHA products - most BHA skincare items contain some form of alcohol or menthol or other irritants but this one surprisingly does not. I've noticed no tingling at all, I have fewer blackheads but there was some "purging" which will hopefully go away soon.

Also, in my package I received some samples of her other products, I'm especially interested in the Shine Stopper and Skin Balancing Super Antioxidant Mattifying Serum which contains retinol.

I was also very impressed with the shipping time - the package was shipped from Germany and I received it in 2 days!

I will report on how I get on with all of these new purchases after a month or two, once I thoroughly test them. Have you tried any of the products from Paula's Choice? Was it love or hate?

  1. I have been very tempted before to try her range as I like how she omits a lot of irritants, but I have read some bad reviews for those with acne/sensitve skin, which has stopped me buying. I'll look forward to hearing how you get on with these :)

  2. Hi Replica! So far I like everything and I was especially impressed that I have fewer blackheads and also my skin is not as red. I was also surprised that there was no tingling or burning when I applied the BHA. I am being careful with the BHA though, and use it onlyabout 3 times a week. I really hope these products will help my skin, I'll definitely post an update (hopefully, a positive one :) x

  3. They do sound very good, I don't tend to get on with BHA products but this does sound promising :)

  4. I love Paula's Choice Skincare. I have used it for about 2 years and I would never use anything else. My skin is even toned, clear and radiant since I started using it. You will love, love, love!!!
