Rouge Bunny Rouge Silk Aether Long-Lasting Cream Eyeshadow in Chiffon Ringlet

... and breathe! Phew, that's a long name for an eyeshadow, isn't it?
A while ago Zu from tweeted that Rouge Bunny Rouge would be releasing new cream eyeshadows which of course caught my attention immediately. As soon as these eyeshadows went live on Zuneta (which was about 2 weeks ago) I added one of them to my basket.

The packaging is beautiful, no surprise when it comes to Rouge Bunny Rouge, the tube is very slim and contains 4 mls of shimmery goodness.

The colour that I chose is Chiffon Ringlet, described on Zuneta as
Semi-sheer satin mauvish chocolate with copper reflections; buildable to darker, more opaque and metallic hue of the same colour. It does have a slight mauvish undertone on the wand however when applied it's definitely more of a chocolate brown with golden shimmer.

The right swatch is blended a little
The consistency is creamy but when you start blending the colour you can sort of feel it setting although it never turns to a truly powdery finish. Also, the more you blend the more you can see the golden shimmer coming through. Because of its texture you don't really get a lot of time for blending and I find it best applied with fingers (I've tried with a brush but the result was a bit patchy).

Just a few photos to show what one layer of the cream eyeshadows looks like when applied to the eyelid:

...and close!

FYI, I've also used the Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink on the upper lashline, Bourjois Smoky Effect in Smoky Brown on the lower lashline and Clinique's High Impact mascara.

As you can see the colour is much lighter when applied and the shimmer is more visible but not over the top which I love. You could build up the colour but I would suggest doing it in separate thin layers.

Now as for the long-lasting claims: I applied the eyeshadow this morning at 7 a.m. (yawn!) and  8 hours later it still looked very good, after 10 hours the colour did fade and creased a bit (my eyelids are extremely oily, an average powder eyeshadow without a primer lasts 2 hours on me!).

There are in total 5 shades of the Silk Aether eyeshadows, all of them in the taupe-brown-grey family and you can get them at

P.s.: My first association to the word aether was ether, the anesthetic, however the free dictionary kindly explained to me that aether refers to The poetic personification of the clear upper air breathed by the Olympians. I guess that makes more sense, I mean, who would want to have a beauty product named after an anesthetic?

  1. That is beautiful on you, I got one as well, Atlas Swallowtail, I really like it. I will have to get Chiffon Ringlet next, although I have a feeling I will end up buying them all!

  2. That is a very pretty shade and the pigmentation is impressive which seems to echo the quality of the powder eyeshadows. I will have to check these out as I hadn't realised they were live yet.

  3. You eyes look lovely! I tried this out for the first time today and it has worn pretty well. As i'm more used to powders I think it will take me a while to get the best out of this product but it is a beautiful colour, just need to practice more X

  4. Hi Replica,
Thank you, I really like the colour as well and I think it would look great with your eyes. I was actually thinking about getting either the Atlas Swallowtail or the Chiffon Ringlet and decided for brown at the end because I don't have any brown cream eyeshadows. x Klara

    Hi Meeta,
Thank you, all the colours seem to be in the neutral range, great basics, although I would love a good plum too! There are swatches of each colour on, worth checking out! x Klara

    Hi Jennifer,
Thank you! I agree that it needs a little bit of practice, applying it in thin layers and tapping the eyeshadow in with fingers rather than blending it with a brush seems to work the best for me. x Klara

  5. It is lovely on, much lighter than I had expected from the swatch, it really suits you.

  6. Hi Debbie,
Thank you! It is lighter when applied to the eyes than in the swatch, it makes a very quick everyday makeup - just some liner and mascara and that's it.
    x Klara

  7. Goodness this is a very pretty look. I am in 2 minds about RB, loads of positive reviews but I know that I will never use, perhaps I should just stick with admiration of it on those with a younger and firmer eyelid! Jan x

  8. Hi Jan,
Well if you'd never going to wear it then there is no point in buying it, I agree (see I'm being very sensible here). I do like most of the RBR stuff that I have (that is except the nude lipstick I got and even that is probably my fault - I should have known better, nudes just don't look good on me). I really love the other lipstick from their line that I have, Whim of Mine, and will do a post about it.

Thank you very much for your compliment!
    x Klara
